Site Update
by Alexander
Due to the great and ongoing efforts of Ms P. D. Clark (pictured, alongside myself), our website has begun to really be a website. We have radio episodes up, an "about" page in progress, and even a tiny icon that goes beside the address bar in your browser. Fancy. So does every one like it so far? I know you all were saving your ecstatic flattery and comments for this post, so let them finally roll in like a raccoon to garbage.
Ha, you choose the weirdest photos! Why do you like this one so much anyway? And why do I have such a minuscule head?
ReplyDeleteThe new about page looks much improved. Good job, you. You're good at learning computers! And making websites with you is fun!
Also, re: raccoon and lion cub in previous post, you are really good with the animal-related similies lately.
pam i LOVE the shirt youre wearing in that shot. good website too!
ReplyDeleteby the way..how are you doing this? its not through blogspot anymore? it looks a lot better
ReplyDeleteThat's seriously one of the weirdest pictures I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteAnd Lindsay, this "news" blog is technically still through blogspot, but Pamela has been able to modify it to both match the aesthetic of the website and remove most traces of the "Blogger" name.
The blog is no longer with Blogspot (which is just the hosting site), but it is still powered by Blogger (which is the publishing tool site). All the aesthetic changes were made through Blogger. I altered the "classic" template by going into the HTML editor and altering a bunch of stuff in the codes. In so doing, you can make it look pretty much however you'd like!
ReplyDeleteAlso, when you use Blogger software on your own website, you're allowed to cast off the hideous branding. To get rid of all that, I also went into the HTML again and inserted weird codes (that I learned by googling) to get rid of the "navbar" at the top, the garish orange "B" logos in the address bar and beside comments, and all other advertising. You would (I think) technically be capable of doing this on a blogspot site too, but it would be dicey since I think it would violate the Blogger "terms of service."
I love the font. What is it? And how do you make websites like this?
ReplyDeleteThe typeface is called Baskerville. It is my current favourite typeface. It's what we use for the zine now, so we thought it apposite for the website as well.
ReplyDeleteTo make websites like this, you acquire the assistance of one P. Clark. I barely know anything about how to make websites.
However, are you referring to this specific blog? Because it's just an altered version of our old Blogger site, the latter of which is easy as hell to make. However, Pamela managed to change it once we got our own site so that we could make it better.
